MResult's new Business Objects Auditor brings "web metrics" like tracking to the world of Business Objects.

Many of our clients have confided that, despite the investments they've made in Business Intelligence and Business Objects, they still have no real understanding of who is using their BI reports and who is not. Understanding how users are interacting with their system is critical for protecting their investments and ensuring both regulatory compliance and user adoption. But Business Object's "out of the box" audit capability is limited, providing just User and System activities. To be truly useful an audit should combine User, Activity and Security information in a single 360 degree view of your system.

MResult's Auditor for Business Objects provides this view in a series of easy to use, customizable reports. The idea for the product came from Neville Wadia, MResult's lead software architect for business intelligence products and a former software engineer at Business Objects. "We started by looking at metrics from a business person's view," says Wadia. "For a business owner it's all about their own applications; who is viewing their reports, who is supposed to be viewing them but is not. Our application answers these questions by utilizing the Business Objects SDK to regularly pull information from Business Object's Activity and Security tables, transforms it for easy access, then places it in our own data repository for detailed reporting. The result is a light-weight solution that can easily sit on top of your current BO implementation."
